In 2012 Dominic Raab co-authored Britannia Unchained — Global Growth and Prosperity. In it Raab, along with other “new right” Priti Patel and Kwasi Kwarteng, blasted British workers for being lazy.
The Tea Party Tories state:
“Too many people in Britain, we argue, prefer a lie-in to hard work,” they said.
“If we are to take advantage of these opportunities, we must get on the side of the responsible, the hard working and the brave. We must stop bailing out the reckless, avoiding all risk, and rewarding laziness.”
“Once they enter the workplace, the British are among the worst idlers in the world,” they said. “We work among the lowest hours, we retire early and our productivity is poor.”https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/tackle-lazy-britain-fellow-tories-tell-david-cameron-8056787.html
They add workers must: “rediscover the lost virtue of hard graft”.
So what is making British workers lazy?
The bloated state and, of course, a generous welfare system.
